The countdown to Machine Gun Jetpack -- the iOS action game from Fruit Ninja and Monster Dash developer Halfbrick launching in September — is officially on! Halfbrick Studios today unveiled the first in a series of developer diary videos breaking down key gameplay, creative inspiration and the development process behind the studio's highly anticipated mobile game.
Machine Gun Jetpack marks the return of Halfbrick's most mischievous and loveable hero Barry Steakfries, who steals a highly explosive, unstable and experimental machine gun-propelled jetpack that he -- naturally -- straps to his back without hesitation. Barry bolts for freedom but faces an endless hall booby-trapped with electrical fields, laser blasts and homing rockets that players must navigate around with the simple one-touch controls.
In the series' first video, "Simple Awesomeness," lead designer Luke Muscat breaks down the simple beauty of the one-touch gameplay, giving fans a look at mechanics, collectibles, and various obstacles players will face in Barry's high-flying adventure.
